Flat Bits
Flat bits are screwdriver bits for screws with a slotted recess. Use them for older or simpler types of screws where there is no cross-head, star-shaped or hexagonal recess, but a single straight slot in the screw head.
When to choose a flat bit
Choose a flat bit when the screw has a slotted recess. Select the size according to the width of the slot, for example 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm, 7 mm or 8 mm. A correctly selected bit should fit well into the slot so that it does not slip out during fastening and does not damage the edges of the screw.

Does the screw have a different recess?
If the screw does not have a slotted recess, choose according to the actual head shape: for cross-head screws use Phillips (PH) or Pozidriv (PZ/PZD), for a star-shaped recess use Torx (TX), and for an internal hex drive use hexagonal bits.
