Hand taps are designed for cutting, cleaning and repairing internal threads using a tap wrench. They are mainly suitable for smaller volumes of work, workshop repairs and softer materials such as aluminium, brass, copper or plastics.
When to choose a hand tap
Choose a hand tap when you are not cutting the thread by machine and want to keep the work under manual control. The thread is created gradually, usually using a set of two or three taps with different tooth profiles.
