Phillips (PH) Bits
Phillips (PH) bits are cross-head screwdriver bits for screws with a Phillips recess. Choose them when the screw head has a simple cross without the additional smaller ribs between the arms; this is what distinguishes PH from the similar Pozidriv system.
When to choose a Phillips bit
Choose a PH bit according to the size of the recess in the screw head, for example PH 0, PH 1, PH 2, PH 3 or PH 4. The correct size is important so that the bit sits properly in the recess and does not unnecessarily damage the screw head or the bit itself during fastening.

Does the screw have a different type of cross recess?
If the screw head has a finer additional cross in addition to the main cross, it is not Phillips but Pozidriv. In that case, choose Pozidriv bits, because the wrong type of cross-head bit can slip in the recess and damage the screw.
