CHOOSING THE RIGHT DRILL BIT

A drill bit is a tool made of steel, designed to create a round hole in a material.

Unlike a milling cutter, it moves through the material only forwards, or deeper into the material, not sideways.

Although all drill bits work on the same principle – the basis is a rotary motion transmitted from the power unit (drill, cordless screwdriver, etc.) through the drill bit holder all the way to its tip – choosing the right tool is absolutely essential for achieving a successful result.

WHEN CHOOSING A DRILL BIT, YOU SHOULD CONSIDER:

• The type and hardness of the material being drilled
• The thickness of the material, or the required drilling depth
• The hole diameter
• The type of tool being used
