Where and for what you will use Multi-Purpose drill bits in practice

Multi-Purpose drill bits make the most sense where, in a single installation job, you drill through multiple material layers. Typically, for example, when drilling through ceramic tiles into masonry, through a plastic strip into a wall, or through a laminated board into the substrate.

You will use them when installing bathroom accessories, brackets, trims, covers, or other elements where you start on a hard or smooth surface and then continue into the load-bearing structure underneath. You do not need to change the drill bit between individual layers.

However, it is important to keep in mind that a Multi-Purpose solution is always a certain compromise. For each material there are specialized drill bits – for wood, metal, concrete, or diamond drill bits for tiles – that deliver better results within their specific field. A Multi-Purpose drill bit therefore makes the most sense where flexibility and working with a combination of materials matters, not maximum performance in just one of them.

How to work with Multi-Purpose drill bits

Multi-Purpose drill bits are designed for drilling without hammer action. They are used in standard drills or cordless drill/drivers with hammer action switched off.

During work it is important to:

• drill at lower speed,
• avoid excessive feed pressure,
• on hard and smooth surfaces, start drilling carefully and keep the tool stable.

Multi-Purpose drill bits are not intended for intensive drilling into reinforced concrete, nor for use with hammer action.

How is the range further structured?

The category is divided into three subgroups:

• Multi purpose drill bits with a centering tip
• Multi purpose drill bits with a carbide insert (clearance)
• Multi purpose SDS-plus drill bits (clearance)

We offer a full range of sizes in the centering tip variant. The other two groups are available only in a limited range of sizes as part of clearance.

When choosing, consider mainly the material you will be drilling into and the shank type of your machine. If you work mainly with tiles and floor tiles, it may be better to switch to diamond drill bits from the category Drilling into tiles and floor tiles, glass, plastics.
